Looking for a job? Better than Mr. Macron’s “cross the street”, we say “cross the Atlantic”. The news flow in the USA is full of companies struggling to find enough candidates for the jobs they have to fill, but US managers are never short of innovative ideas to resolve their problems. We are glad to share some of their solutions with you.
Did you know that a McDonald’s restaurant in Florida was giving $50 to every candidate who shows up at a job interview, regardless of the outcome? Granted, this is not worth a trip from another state, let alone a transatlantic flight, but what about working in another restaurant or becoming a salesperson in the auto sector? Groceries and restaurants will commonly offer you a $300-500 signing bonus, but some time ago, CarMax organized a hiring event, in which you could have obtained a sign-up bonus of up to $6,500 (including a special 1,500 supplement for speaking several languages).
Not interested in money? A number of employers will grant you great advantages, such as a pawternity leave when you adopt a new pet, or days off when it is sick.
Now, if none of these options works for you (or if you need a vacation after working hard in your new job), don’t hesitate to get a Covid-19 vaccine. With many employers, this may earn you a donut or a beer, but getting your shot from a CVS pharmacy will make you eligible to sweepstakes whose top prizes are cruises, resort holidays in Bermuda, VIP trips to Super Bowl, etc. And if you choose the right location, you may cumulate with State-managed vaccination incentives, which range from million dollar lotteries to college scholarships to… lifetime hunting and fishing licenses!
